Wadi Rum is one massive, living film set. You just point your camera, wait a moment, and suddenly you see it – the background landscape forms the perfect backdrop, the majestic rock formations look destined for a Hollywood visual, and the midday sun does not hurt the shot at all. Nor does the morning, afternoon, or evening light... the place looks magical at any hour, night included. Every now and then, a jeep, a camel, or a Bedouin drifts into the frame – it almost feels "too easy," as it is virtually impossible to take a bad shot here.

Since I was there "only" with a tour guide, we spent our time chasing the typical landmarks – Lawrence's House, the petroglyphs, the rock bridge, the mushroom rock, the canyon, and the dunes. Honestly, they are not even that extraordinary. I mean – not compared to the rest of the desert. Wadi Rum is simply breathtaking anywhere you look. It truly does not matter which rock formation you stop by; within moments, a ready-made movie set unfolds before your eyes. No editing needed. Just add some epic music, and every single shot could easily be the opening scene of a big-screen adventure blockbuster.
