Comic Book Perspectives: Leaving Celestún
I am still not sure if it is even possible – with a regular camera. The idea is to let the foreground dominate; to capture those "unimportant" details in sharp focus, as they are the ones building the environment and mood. The actual subjects – the figures – are tucked away in the distance. We already know the characters anyway, so why show them in detail? The whole frame needs to be composed with enough space for a speech bubble. One day, I would like to take pictures that feel exactly like frames from a comic book...
